CiCi Miniseries Issue #1
The Cover Painting

Please be patient this page takes a while to load...

Well you have to start somewhere, and a rough sketch is as good a place as any.  Monte whipped this one out in a few minutes just to give me a general idea of what elements should be on the cover and where they should go.   You've got to have the main character, CiCi, amidst the debris and another main character, Max, looming in the background.  Security has caught up with her, but they're still on the back cover, she's got all the time in the world to get ready for those guys.

I thought CiCi's pose should be a little more pro-active without looking too gung-ho.  Monte found just the right one and it was a keeper throughout the whole process.  Again, Monte blazes out another sketch and then spends about an hour cleaning her up.  She cleans up rather nicely I might add.

We made a few more modifications on the rough sketch above.   Believe it or not Chuck actually got into the act with a few suggestions.   A few more guards here and there...  Add the main antagonist, GC-3, on the back cover...   Denver skyline...  A little more debris...  And PRESTO!  You've got the beginning of an awesome looking cover.

Yes that's right.  This is only the beginning.   Monte still needs to add color.  He will essentially paint over this pencilled sketch, cover one masterpiece with yet another.  Below is the back of the promotional postcard given away at the San Diego Con with the front being the painted artwork.
