Jason Hall - Pencils / Plot

Initially, Jason was not slated to be the penciller of this project.  He sort of loomed in the background and was just somebody whom Chuck knew that could pencil well.  In the process of waiting for the primary penciller to generate samples I was able to see a sample done by Jason.  Needless to say, Jason was in and Jeff (last name withheld) was out.  You might be able to see his fan art in an issue of Spawn.

Pencils:

Issue #1 - pages: 2 - 6, 9, 14, 16, 20, 22 - 30
Issue #2 - pages: 1 - 22 (page 6 color sample)
Issue #3 - pages: 2 - 22
Issue #4 - pages: 1 - 22

As you can see from the above credits, Jason took over the project and hit full steam.  He quit his "regular job" and worked on the project full time.  Things usually go unsaid, but I was pretty damn excited to have Jason turning in a couple of pages a week.  I thought this was the thing that would motivate the crew to get a move on.  It is amazing to see his work improve over time.  Now that doesn't mean you don't want to buy the first issue just because the art is getting better.  The art in the first issue doesn't suck, and like I said, it's improving with time.  He actually redrew some of Zak's pages in issue one after he had already done a few pages in issue two.

You're asking yourself, "why didn't Jason do page 1 of issue #3?"  I'm not sure.  Originally the entire series was going to be a jam session between all the artists, each contributing a little to each facet of the production.  Chuck wanted to try more penciling, but we only had one "professional" inker so Jason is finishing the series.  Who knows, you might even see his work in some major X-title before you see his first paying gig.

Drop him a line (vanian@mindspring.com), I'm sure he'd love to hear from you (as long as it's praise).  If you tell him his work sucks...  So help me I'll...
