Jay Leisten - Inks
So far I have only met Jay over the phone. He is doing an excellent job with finishing up the rest of the inks. He picked up where Alp left off on Issue #3 and will continue with #4 until the project is done. WOW. Did I say done? Can it really be THAT close?
Beth recommended Jay, because she knows him from Top Cow and said he was good inker and is known for getting stuff done (even when it's crunch time). So I called him up. We worked something out and I sent him the pages. I'm pretty sure he does EVERYTHING himself, backgrounds too. He doesn't farm that out to an assistant. He's a veritable workhorse. Then he hands them over to Beth for scanning. She e-mails the scans back to me and I'm able to scour them under the Photoshop "microscope" as it were. These scan even print great on a laser printer. I've heard some shops where they scan the image in gray scale to get crisper lines, but scanning in 2-color mode (black & white) is just fine for comics. Especially when you scan an oversized comic page (11 x 14) at 300 DPI. This page is reduced in the final printing so the effective DPI is much finer. So it may look chunky under the "scope", but the final product looks fantastic.
He finished up issue #3 and is about done with #4.
Inked a pinup of Patrick's.
