Issue 1 - Lettering

In the grid that follows, I wanted to show the changes for each type of letter box.  Digital Chameleon provided a good start with a standard letter box, but I sent back suggestions for changes which are below.  And yes, these are actual boxes used in the comic.  They may change a little with some bold text thrown in for emphasis, but the text will stay the same.

For the location I wanted something that looked a little metallic.  The top box shows Digital Chameleon's rendition and the lower box is my attempt at a metallic looking highlight.  My suggestion was exactly what I wanted, but I know Digital Chameleon will clean that up nicely.
For the narration I wanted a "windowed" feel without copying the Macintosh, Windows, Silicon Graphics, or OpenLook interface (is OpenLook still around?), so I created my own window, complete with minimize, maximize, and close buttons and a system menu.  I've always wanted to design my own graphical OS, this gets me pretty close.  I prefer gray on my desktop, but Digital Chameleon may add some color to the final window.
As you can see the staff in CiCi's thought boxes got nuked.  They weren't subtle enough.  I was shooting for something like what the guys did in Batman: Harley Quinn (the one with the Alex Ross cover).  Instead the boxes turned out more like Avengylene's sword.  So the staff was thrown out altogether and I changed the font to be a little more readable.
For the GC, I wanted a the feel of a computer monitor.  I swapped the dots in the bottom corner to match his eye color and attempted to add some glare to the top left.  Again, I'm sure Digital Chameleon will be able to clean that up.
