Spilled Milk Update #2
Sent: Sat. 5/1/99 5:05 PM
Hey Everybody!
As you can see. I spruced up the main page with some actual artwork. Since I joined LinkExchange, I could see people hitting the main page and then going no further. They probably saw the big-ass logo and said "Big-Ass Deal", and then left. I added the color images first and that helped a little, then added the guard from one of the pages in issue #2.
The biggest news since the last update is that I got the color proofs back from Digital Chameleon. They look hot. In most cases I envisioned something different, but what they did really makes sense. I was so used to seeing the muted green and yellow colors in either Dark Minds or The Matrix so thats what I pictured. They went the other direction with reds and purples. It gives it more a fiery feel and since the main characters costume is gold I felt that orange might blend in too much.
Youll also notice that I didnt attach the release notes to the end of this update. They are now online hidden under the "Contact" page (www.SpilledMilk.com/contact.htm). Accompanying the release notes is a slowly growing FAQ and this letter will be posted as well (a great way to wave band-width). Many people have asked me what theyve missed and now I can direct them to those pages.
I put up many pages from issue #2 (www.SpilledMilk.com/images02.htm). You can access them from the "Images" section. No thumb-nails yet, but Ill get to them soon after I swap in the color pages for issue #1. Ill probably leave the inks as reference, but they wont be side-by-side with the color due to the current slowness of the images.
Ive been waiting patiently for Image comics to get back with me, but I will be calling them on Monday. Larry Marder has been on vacation and he got back a week ago so I wanted to give him enough time to look at the project. Sooner or later Ill know whether or not I will be affiliated with Image or not. As soon as I know Youll know.
On a different note
You guys are great. Most of you have won one (or several) of my eBay auctions. That has been the greatest exposure so far. Unfortunately none of my friends read comics at all so I really dont tell them to check out my web-sight. What would be the point? Hopefully many of your friends DO read comics and would like to check out my web-site too, but you havent told them about it. I dont get very many people who want to sign up on the mailing list that didnt win something from me. I dont know why. I dont get it. I see a bunch of hits on the contacts page, but nobody wants to be on the list.
So tell your friends!! Sign them up! Better yet, have them sign themselves up.
Dont be surprised if you see a plot outline in Update #3. Stay tuned.
Thanks for your support!
Parker.
