Spilled Milk Update #3

Sent:  Thu 6/17/99 10:56 PM

Hey Everybody,

You can check out what’s new on the release notes page, buried underneath the "Contact & Subscribe" section (www.SpilledMilk.com/release_notes.htm). This is just in case you don’t check the site EVERY day or subscribe to it through your browser. If you do the latter, you may want to subscribe to the page above (release notes), because that will always be updated whenever the site changes even just a little.

Looking at the release notes, I guess I’ve slacked off for about 20 days. Most of that was spent scanning the pages in and looking over the color proofs.

Peek at the costume…
Looks like working late at night caught up with me. In issue #3 page 16 there is an ever so slight view of the costume. There’s not much detail so I guess I’ll just leave it. It seems like I send a batch of pages to the copyright office at least once a month, just to cover any updates.

Color Proofs…
The color proofs made it back to Canada with all the scrawled out changes. Since this is our first book together there were some things that were missed. When I showed the proofs to people there wasn’t a huge positive response towards the HOT PINK. When I scanned them in, the hot pink didn’t really show through; but believe me, it was blindly hot. All in all they did a good job and I’m pretty sure that they weren’t finished since we skipped the color guide stage and went straight to full color.

Woo Hoo! I Yahoo! (at least I do now)
I guess the most exciting thing for me this update is Yahoo! finally adding the site to their list of sites. It only took them since January, but I say "better now than never". I suppose I should stop bad mouthing them on my site. "Yeah, I Yahoo!" (www.yahoo.com) They actually looked at the site and wrote up a very short blurb. I checked www.lycos.com and they wrote up an even lengthier blurb. It’s buried deep within www.hotbot.com, but at least they suggest Lycos when they fail (98% rating for the Mission Statement page). I’m still looking at how to hook up with www.go.com but it looks like you need secret password or something.

eBay – What were they thinking?
I guess I considered myself lucky, because I was out of town and didn’t have enough time to post the Wednesday before the outage. I was a little worried, because they haven’t been down that long and it took them forever to remove the "new" look. I figure their community won’t take a huge hit and will hang in there for the long haul. Their stock faltered a little, but was up the other day. Maybe the outage may draw in new people just to see what all the commotion was about. Just like how people stare at accidents on the freeway. eBay still is the biggest and the best so I guess I’ll keep posting in order to link people to my site. I was, however, completely blown away by the number hits my site got during the eBay outage. I guess I attributed it to the Yahoo! link.

Mailing list 59 and still growing…
I’ve been worried about putting all the names in one personal distribution list (it’s the easiest thing for me to do), but I’d like to put it to you the readers. "Are you bothered if your name shows up in this huge list?" I must admit I’ve used a list sent to me on occasion to throw out a blanket reply just to give this project a blurb or two. I usually get a good response though. Please let me know if this is troubling and I’ll modify my eBay database to send out messages one at a time.

Word of mouth
As always, this is where I beg and plead for your support. Tell your friends. Tell your relatives. Tell your friends’ relatives. Tell your comic shop owners. I’ll also be spreading the word at the San Diego Con. More details to follow in future updates.

What to look for
In the coming weeks I’ll be putting up some character profiles. This way you can get to know the characters before they are immersed in the story. So be watching for Cynthia, Maxwell, Linda, and GC-3.

Human Behavioral Experiment
Go out and buy the new Dr. Evil action figure (again, they are not dolls). You need the one that says "Why must I always be surrounded by frickin’ idiots?" Take the voice box with you to work and play it on the elevator. Only play it once and see who laughs or sneers. The line at the bank is a good place too. You might be taking your life into your own hands if you try this at the post office though so I wouldn’t recommend it.

Thanks for all your support

Parker

The standard removal policy if you should ever need it. Just reply to this message with the word remove in the subject and you’ll be deleted from the mailing list. You might make it in ALL CAPS or else I might not take you seriously J .
